In August the Prime Minister announced a £1.8 billion cash injection for the NHS to ensure frontline services have the funding they need to make a real difference to the lives of local people, doctors and nurses. This includes an £850 million package for 20 hospitals to upgrade outdated facilities and equipment - helping improve patient care and save more lives.
The remaining £1 billion of the funding boost will allow existing upgrade programmes to proceed. However, Bedford's Labour MP has not gained any further funding for Bedford Hospital. He has let us all down. That is why I am campaigning to make sure we secure the funds we need. I hope people will support me so that we can benefit from Boris Johnson's pledge to boost NHS funding - improving health services for local residents.
I am therefore calling on decision makers to look again at this funding.
